Creating a VPN Connection (D-Link)

If you’re using a D-Link router, setting up your VPN can have some additional steps. Don’t worry — we’ve got it all explained with pictures below so that you can have your VPN up and running in no time at all! Once you’ve got it set up, your employees will be able to securely access your company intranet, even when they’re outside of the office.

 

Click the Start Menu and open the Control Panel.

Double click the Network Connections icon in the Control Panel.

Double click Create New Connection in the Network Connections window.

Click Next on the Connection Wizard Welcome screen.

Choose the option Connect to the network at my workplace and then click Next.

Choose the option Virtual Private Network connection and then click Next.

Enter your company?s name and click Next.

Click the Do not dial the initial connection option and click Next.

Enter your Host Name or IP Address and click Next.

Choose the Anyone?s use option and click Next.

Check the “Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop” option and click Finish.

Double click on the VPN Connection on your desktop.

Click the Properties button.

Click the Security tab then click the Advanced option in the properties window and click the Settings button.

Choose “Option encryption” from the drop down menu and click OK.

Click OK.

Type your Username and Password, check “Save this username and password for the following users”, choose “Anyone who uses this computer” and click Connect.

You should see a balloon message verifying you are connected to the VPN.

To disconnect right-click the connection icon in the system tray and choose disconnect from the menu.
