Job Description and Qualifications

Job Title: Network Technician
Department: Service
Reports To: VP Operations
FLSA Status: Non-exempt (from overtime)


Professionally represent DataPerk to solve client technical problems on site and off site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Secondary support for call in help desk; answer phone in a cheerful manner and address client concerns to completion; document in Autotask
  • Perform service calls at client’s facilities as assigned
  • Perform cabling services as assigned
  • Assist in developing DataPerk business
  • Document all work time by the close of business each work day in Autotask or other formats as requested; document all leave time to ensure accurate data for reporting
  • Assist with any and all client complaints
  • Maintain and create files for new accounts as needed
  • Assist with answering telephones.
  • Assist Administrative personnel in maintaining company and vendor files

Technical Skill Classifications

All technicians will be classified based on their individual skill sets. This classification will be determined by Management through the interview process which may include a written test.

Tier 1 Technician

  • Join computers to domain
  • Add users to Active Directory and setup users in Exchange
  • Setup new computer and migrate profiles to new computer
  • Install and remove programs such as Anti Virus and Outlook
  • Remove viruses and spyware
  • Basic Help Desk support for DataPerk services
  • Computer Maintenance
  • Basic understanding of DHCP, DNS, IP and Ethernet
  • Perform cabling services as assigned
  • Use LAN Tester

Tier 2 Technician

All of the above plus:

  • Setup Windows Server
  • Setup Active Directory
  • Setup Exchange
  • Server Migration
  • Setup and troubleshoot DNS and DHCP
  • Firewall Management, rules and interfaces
  • Basic Setup of Firewall

Tier 3 Technician

All of the above plus:

  • Troubleshoot Windows Servers with advanced configurations
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange with advanced configurations
  • Troubleshoot Firewalls with advanced configurations
  • Perform complex server migrations
  • Install and configure, Hyper-V Clusters, Azure Site Recovery and Azure Hosted Servers


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Essential Duty and Requirement.

  • Education and/or Experience
    All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills
    All applicants must be able to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos in English. Applicants must have the ability to write correspondence. All applicants must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.
  • Mathematical Skills
    Applicants must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and perform algebra, and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and charts.
  • Reasoning Ability
    All applicants must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions.
  • Computer Skills
    To perform this job successfully an individual should have significant experience with computer software and services.
